The brief
Skynet Systems operates a SACCO and needed to move it off manual record keeping. Member balances, loan applications and dividend calculations were time consuming to maintain by hand, and members had no quick way to see where their savings stood. They wanted a single system that members and officers could trust.
What we built
We built Skynet Finance Solutions, a custom SACCO management system. Members sign in to view their savings, deposit through MTN MoMo or Airtel Money, request and follow up on loans, and download statements on demand. Officers approve loans, run dividend calculations, and pull reports in seconds. Reconciliation that used to be a manual chore is now matched automatically against Mobile Money transactions.
The stack
PHP 8 with MySQL for the core ledger, a clean responsive interface, and the MTN MoMo and Airtel Money APIs for deposits and disbursements. It runs as a Progressive Web App, so members can install it to their phones and open it like a native app. Hosted on Baasa Cloud with daily off-site backups.
The outcome
Skynet Systems now runs the whole SACCO from one dashboard. Savings and loan balances update in real time, statements generate instantly, and Mobile Money deposits land directly against each member's account. The officers spend their time on members instead of spreadsheets.
