The problem

Skyz Hotel Kampala was getting 90 percent of its bookings through OTAs like Booking.com and Expedia. The OTAs took 18 to 22 percent commission and the hotel had no relationship with the guest before arrival. They wanted to take more bookings directly and run their own events business online too.

What we built

We built two sites. skyzhotelkampala.com is the brand site with rooms, dining, the gallery and an enquiry funnel. proteaskyzhotelevents.com is the events booking system, with calendar availability for the venues, online deposit payments, and an admin dashboard for the events team. Both sites share the same hosting and the same content backbone.

The stack

Two static brand sites built with Astro, plus a PHP-MySQL event booking system. Pesapal for Mobile Money and card payments. Hosted on Baasa Cloud Elite. Calendar sync to the hotel's existing PMS for room availability.
